Shellal was founded in 1966 with ewes from leading studs of the time, Lindsbury, Marylebone, Broughton and Malkay. All studs have since been dispersed. It was decided to start up a Poll Dorset Stud because, at the time, we found it difficult to obtain good lines of Poll Dorset flock rams for our commercial flock. It wasn't too many years later that the Stud grew and prospered so well that it pushed the commercial flock out. Since the early 1970s we have run only stud sheep, therefore allowing our customers the 'Top of the Drop' flock rams each year.
You'll find us located on the Penshurst - Warrnambool Road in South Western Victoria, 7 kilometers south of Hawkesdale, and 37 kilometers north of Warrnambool.
